Artist Statement
Born in Richmond, BC, Shazmin Hussein lives and works in Vancouver, BC. With a keen eye for posture and the female figure, Shazmin’s history in modelling and makeup artistry has informed her vibrant and playful compositions. Her figurative yet abstract acrylic paintings express the beauty of the female figure, drawing the viewer’s attention to their formative and differentiating curves. Her colourful palettes live in harmony with dark tones, bold patterns, and structured lines.
